Type A-2: No-Name 42-18246-P

This jacket is a reproduction of a no-name Type A-2 that's rather uncommon. Some believe the maker to be S.H. Knopf of Boston, MA, and
that company was a contractor later for the Air Force. This A-2 pattern has very distinct and odd details in comparison
to other A-2 makers, which are listed below. The pattern is trim and the shoulders quite wide for the proportions of the body.

The contract was apparently done only in horsehide, and that ranged from dark russet to a seal brown. The finish on many originals that we've
seen could be described as weak, which abundant surface flaking. Just the same, the shape of their pattern is excellent, and has
a strong, athletic profile.

Details of this contract:
- seal or dark russet horsehide
- slender torso and arms
- very wide shoulders
- large collar
- epaulets have both top and bottom pieces folded at ends
- pocket flap has front and back pieces folded at top
- Seam in center of wind flap back
- top stitching very close to edge of folds
- bare metal nickel snaps
- collar snaps in body have textured paint covering
- mustard colored lining
- small AN stamp in lining
- mid-brown knits
- bell Talon zippers
This jacket would be ideal for those with an athletic build and wide shoulders.
