Original Aero 42-18775-P Type A-2 Flight Jacket

This jacket is a solid original Type A-2. It was made by Aero Leather, from their
42-18775-P contract. The jacket can be worn, and has very solid horsehide or cowhide.
The jacket has no markings of ownership, nor were any name tags patches ever put on it.
The leather is strong and flexible, and shows amazing patina. The right sleeve has a
little bit of surface cracking, but it has no effect on the integrity of the leather.
We applied a thin coating of Pecards to the leather, so it has a very flexible condition.
The lining is quite good, with some stains and holes along the neck line, but it should
stay in the jacket. The cotton material is a tiny bit thicker than some cotton we've
seen in original Aeros. There is a 1/2" cut in one pocket body (probably a scar in the
animal, not an after-production cut), as seen in the photos below.
The jacket has not been over-dyed, but this is the original dark brown pigment
color applied over russet leather. This ia a common feature of leather supplied
to Aero of Beacon, NY. Note the base color around the fold of the collar.
The knits were replaced by us, and the original knits were definitely red, so we've
used our reproduction Aero red color. We also applied a reproduction label. We know
that it's from the 18775 contract because the pocket body corners are rounded, not square.
The zipper, snaps, and all other hardware are all original to the jacket. The zipper works
great, as do all the other parts. The acket only has the slightest scent of the original
tanning method, but no bad odor.
