This jacket is a very cool and extremely rare WWII Naval flight jacket. The Arnoff AN-J-3A contract was awarded in 1943, and was a relatively small volume production. This jacket is in solid and wearable condition. The parts are all original, except the mouton, which we replaced with a piece of vintage mouton. The jacket looks great when worn on the right size person.

The goatskin is in solid condition, though it certainly has plenty of signs of wear in it. The finish is a beautiful worn dark brown, with lighter areas that received the most friction. We have had this jacket for seven years, and the goatskin is totally solid. The lining has two color tons (we've seen this on other vintage jackets, too). There's one hole by the mouton, above the label. The knits have many little holes, and a few 1/2" holes, but we believe that there was no need to replace them. The Conmar zipper works great, and has no damage. There are some loose threads, but nothing that would affect the integrity of the jacket.

Note the unique collar design in the goatskin (only Arnoff did this), and the shape of the buttons. We've seen these buttons on one L.W. Foster 55J14 G-1 as well, but not on any other makers' jackets. Arnoff was one of three Naval flight jackets contractors that used a folded A-2 style waistband on their jackets (the others being Fried-Ostermann and Bogen & Tenenbaum).

One great aspect of this jacket is that we know the name of the owner, during WWII. He was a navigator. We haven't done any research on Mr. M.D. Cameron, but there's always the chance that someone can find out details of his service.

This jacket will ideally fit a person who is 5'6" to 5'8", with a chest circumference of 34-37", and weight of 140-155 pounds.
