This jacket is a test sample reproduction of a Scully Bros. original from 1932. Our friend Terry Mitchell has lent us the original jacket to make a pattern from. The Talon zipper on the original is dated to 1932, base on a number and letter impressed into the bottom frame (via data from Mituhiro Aota's book 'Zipper Gear').

This jacket looks great, and is comfortable when worn. The sleeve ends are rather snug when buttoned (not uncomfortable, but one would have to unbutton to get their hand in and out), and the lower jacket is neither tight nor loose. The leather is a mid-weight cowhide with an aniline finish. It shows rain drops as dark spots, but dries to it's original color, just as the original jacket's leather does.

The construction of an unlined jacket like this is genius, and Scully Bros. had years of experience before they made this jacket in 1932, having been making Cossack jackets for several years prior to 1932. This is one of several designs that we've seen from them. One interesting detail that Scully is very consistent in is the use of a gusset in the armpit. Every Scully jacket that we've seen has had this detail.

This jacket is a first test of the pattern—the original, which can be seen below, is very small, so we cannot even show what it's like on our mannequin, but the pattern is great.

This jacket will ideally fit a person who is 5'11" to 6'2", with a chest circumference of 43-45", and weight of 180-210 pounds.
