This jacket shows a new format of cowhide we really like, and have just found. It has excellent weight, and is comfortable. The finish looks old as it gets worn (but won't show finish wear to any excess). The grain is wonderful. It's been worn by John for about 5-6 hours.

This pattern is from 2010, when we took apart an original Aero 18775 in size 40. We really like this pattern, and have also taken apart an original 15142 Aero. It's very comfortable, and looks great worn.

The lining is also a new choice. Aero's last contract, 18775, was mostly made with the common mustard color of cotton. A number of them, though, have this more orange tint. We've seen about five examples like this.

Also, though most 18775 A-2 had Talon M-42 zippers, we've also seen a number of Kwik and Conmars. On this jacket, we chose to use a Conmar. For the label, most Aeros have the two digits that denote the size, but sometimes they would use labels meant for sheepskin jackets, which would have R for Regular. We've seen this a good number of times.

The snaps, which were made by United-Carr, are literally identical to those used on Aero's 18775 contract. We have a very healthy collection of these vintage snaps, made in 1943 for the Navy, and they operate perfectly, and are in as-new condition.

The jacket would ideally fit someone in the range of 5'10" to 6'1" with a chest of 43-45", and a weight of about 185-205 pounds.
