One of the most rare original A-2s is the Aero Clothing and Tanning contract from 1937. This was actually a different company than the later Aero Leather Clothing Co., though several people were involved with both operations. We believe the pattern from 1937 is basically the same as the 1938 Aero, but with some minor differences in sewing details.

We made this jacket several months ago as a web site model. It's made with Italian russet horsehide, a new cotton fabric from a source we now have that's wonderful, knits from the most prominent Japanese knit maker, and it has vintage NOS United-Carr Anzo snaps.

The jacket looks sharp, is comfortable to wear, and has many of the fun details seen on early A-2 jackets. The collar clips are sewn in, the wind flap has a long leather strip against the zipper on the windt flap, and the leather and knit joint is top-stitched along the folded leather edge.

The jacket would ideally fit someone in the range of 5'10" to 6'1", with a chest of 42" to 43.5", and a weight of about 180-205 pounds.
