This is a WWII original Willis and Geiger AN-6552, in size 38. The jacket is in remarkable condition, very solid and wearable, and the goatskin
is soft and drapes with ease. There was no label when we got it, so we applied one of our own Willis & Chapman AN-6552 labels. We don't have the
labels which were originally sewn in. It's better to have a label than no label.
Willis and Geiger were prolific leather jacket makers for the Navy during WWII. They made every intermediate spec, and many of the sheepskin
and other flight clothing. Their patterns were wonderful, and they look sharp when worn. The sewing is top notch, and this jacket is no exception.
The goatskin is in superb condition, the lining looks new, the waistband has a few darned holes, but is still very solid, and the cuffs
are as-new. The zipper works beautifully, and the mouton is faded a tick lighter, but is still wonderfully plush. The silver U.S. stamp
which would be on the back of the collar no longer shows. We suspect the original owner of the jacket removed the label and stamp to keep
it without government markings. The impression of U.S. is still in the surface of the leather.
The jacket is worn by John's almost-13 son, who is 5'11" and 110 pounds.
The jacket would ideally fit someone in the range of 5'7" to 5'10", with a chest of 37" to 39", and a weight of about 150 to 170 pounds.
