We have an original in size 48, and it was just what we needed to recreated the pattern. A customer has had this on order, and we made this test before making their jacket. This also was a test of our two-needle sewing machine, as it had been purchased with 3/8" gap between the needles, but we converted it to 1/4" for this kind of sewing. Not an easy task, but this jacket shows that it worked great. This jacket is used, and has about four hours of very light wear. The cowhide is rather heavy, and has a beautiful natural grain. The two front panels are a little difference in grain, but only noticeable to the wearer. The Beck pattern is very comfortable in the shoulders, wider per size than Buco Racers. The sleeves are also quite full, but the ends are snug and attractive. The rounded pleats behind the shoulders add more extended comfort when leaning forward and riding. All the zippers are vintage Talons, from the late 1940s-early 1950s. They're all extremely solid and look great. The jacket has matching brass snaps. We used black snaps for the inner pocket, for a more subtle effect. The lining is heavy nylon in a dull blue shade, and the lining's sleeves are black rayon.
