This is a web site sample jacket we made a while ago, and it's in new condition and ready for wear. This is an exact copy of an original Cable A-2 we were able to borrow from Jorge Aguilar (for whom we thank). The design is superb, comfortable, and athletic looking with square shoulders. The Cable design is very standard looking without any particular details that demand attention, but it has the look of a typical WWII airman's A-2.

This jacket is made with veg-tanned russet Italian horsehide, which we have colored by the tannery to our custom shade. The lining is mustard, which was standard for Cable A-2s, and the knits are a dark russet shade, also common for Cable jackets. Some Cables had Kwik zippers, but most had blackened Conmars, and this one has that accurate blackened Conmar. The sliders could be black or brass, and this jacket's slider is brass, a wonderful vintage original from WWII. The snaps are also from WWII, having been made in 1943, and they're identical to what Cable A-2s were made with (also silver), and we've got a massive collection of NOS United-Carr snaps as seen installed in this jacket.

We know Cable Raincoat had three contracts, and this is one that was commonly made with goatskin. That being said, we've seen two originals from the 10008-P contract made with either horsehide or cowhide, not goatskin, so that gives us the historic means to use horse in our reproduction with accuracy. The design of the pattern and details between all three contracts is quite consistent.

Most Cable A-2s were made with a reddish mid-brown cotton thread, but we've seen dark brown and a yellow mid-brown as well.

The jacket would ideally fit someone in the range of 5'10" to 6'1", with a chest of 41" to 43", and a weight of about 180-200 pounds. The jacket is shown with a wearer who is 6 feet tall with a 41.5" chest.
