This jacket is a reproduction of the 42-10008-P contract by Cable Raincoat Co. of Boston Mass.—the second of three
contracts awarded to Cable Raincoat Co. This contract was first placed by the Army Air Forces on January 19, 1942,
with a quuantity of 10,000 jackets.

Though this contract was primarily made in russet goatskin, examples do exist in horsehide as well. This particular jacket is
made with a beautiful 3oz. veg-tanned aniline finished horsehide from Horween of Chicago, ILL.
The hand of this hide is actually quite soft, yet dense and quite comfortable. The hides are procured in an unfinished state
of tobacco brown, and finished with our own technique. This begins with a tumble to bring up the natural grain and a day
long drying process. The hides are then hand rubbed with pigment in multiple colors to achieve the desired effect.

The jacket is pre-aged after completion, so that it looks like a well preserved but well used vintage original A-2.

Tell-tale signs of Cable contracts include a relatively square flap, large neck hole, as well as very gracefully rounded collar
points. This contract is most often seen with the mid-brown knits associated with it.

Fit of this contract is quite comfortable in the correct size, as the cut is generous, with well shaped sleeves.

The zipper on this jacket is a reproduction by Waldes with a vintage brass Conmar slider, which were commonly on this
contract (Kwik being the other brand used). For the snaps, vintage NOS United Carr snaps have been appied, just like original
Cables had. We've seen black and silver models on originals, along with ball-stud snaps. Having original United Carr snaps
is a treat we believe our customers find quite cool.

This is a test jacket that was made up as a "proof of concept" on the new leather technique, and in the John's size to allow
for pics to be taken. The jacket is made with rather soft knits, which aren't quite as crisp a wool as our usual knits.

As with all of David's A-2 jackets, this particular jacket is numbered down inside the left sleeve (on the lining) and happens
to be number #73. This is done to hopefully, in the future, discourage anyone from trying to sell the jacket as an original, once
it has more age on it.

This jacket will ideally fit a person who is 5'10" to 6'1", with a chest circumference of 42-43", and weight of
180-205 pounds.
