These jackets are from an era when the Navy supplied the patterns, so these have a more common fit between makers. Irvin B. Foster was the son of Lou (L.W.) Foster, and Irvin continued the family trade with leather jackets after his father left the industry to make leisure suits in 1960. The Irvin B. Foster G-1s are superb in quality, and are the end of an era when patterns, materials, and workmanship were as high as one could go with mass-production clothing. The condition is superb, with all parts being original and in excellent condition. The front panels had one patch on the right side, and then a name tag on the left side, but the holes aren't extreme. The knits are great, with only one small hole on the left cuff, not worth darning. The mouton is wonderful. Note the zipper at the bottom...these were made short for some reason, and this is seen on all the 7823B contract jackets.
