The jacket is made with Shinki dark seal horsehide, and it's quite heavy and will develop grain with use. The fit is common-sense, and would do very well with a person in the numbers listed below. The lining is Pendleton™ wool, by request of the customer, and is not overly heavy, but will keep someone warm. The sleeve linings are satin rayon, which makes donning the jacket much easier than more textured fabrics. The Good Wear Californian Modoc is an exact copy of an original Californian jacket from the mid-1940s, which we dis-assembled and copied. Another original can be seen in the movie 'Surrogates' (Bruce Willis definitely wears an original, not a copy as has been promoted by some). The design is great, and California Sportwear used this pattern from the late 1930s to the early 1950s. This jacket does not fit John, but he was barely able to model it. Someone a bit smaller will do far better in the fit of this jacket.
