This jacket is based on the Monarch A-2 pattern, and has some design differences. Basically, it's an elongated size 42. The jacket was made for an upcoming major motion picture, and the studio asked us for several prototypes. They ultimately chose a different Good Wear A-2 pattern, so we are now selling this test sample.

The jacket is made with Horween Vermont Espresso horsehide. The hides were first washed, to give an aged look, and this process makes the rather soft hides a bit stiffer and darker, and they also have much more grain. This leather is a bit lighter, and much softer than our Japanese horsehide. The jacket was only tried on several times, once by the main actor of the movie (very well known, but we have to keep the information secret for now). Every other detail of the jacket was done exactly as the studio told us to make the jacket

The knits are very soft, of a type we never did use on production jackets, and the zipper is a hybrid 1950s Talon style chain with a 1930s Hookless reproduction slider. This isn't historically accurate, but the zipper was requested to be just that. The thread is our typical cotton mid-brown, which gives some contrast with the leather color. You can see from the dimensions that the jacket is very long, as the actor is slender and athletic.

We know that this jacket isn't the zenith of accuracy that we would prefer to build, but the jacket would make an excellent starter A-2 for someone whom details aren't of the highest concern. Please note the dimensions, as we would suggest that this jacket would work well for someone with a 40"-41" chest, broad shoulders, a slender torso, and a heigh of about 5'10" or so.
