Good Wear Leather and Himel Bros. Leather have collaborated on a series of Ventura half-belt jackets. Using our Ventura pattern, the jackets have been made to a superb degree of quality and materials. The jackets are an easy fit in the right size, and look great. John Chapman and David Himel have been friends since 2008, and have planned this collaboration for several years.

We have four jackets right now, and will be ordering more. All are size 44. Three are black Shinki tea-core horsehide, and one is dark seal pigment Shinki horsehide. Each is made with a light khaki cotton drill lining that has black cotton in the sleeves. The main zippers are reproduction late M-42 Talons and the chest zippers are Waldes brand ball chains, both in nickel.

The Shinki horsehide is a bit smooth when new, but develops grain throughout with use, and looks great. This horsehide is thick, but comfortable, and the more the jacket is worn, the more flexible it gets. The jacket shown on this sale page is black.

The workmanship of Himel Bros. is wonderful, and we have more plans to collaborate with new patterns as well. For more information about Himel Bros., please view their web site. Photographs will show the build quality of each jacket, but the pleasant odor of Shinki's tanning method will have to be experienced in person.

This jacket will ideally fit a person who is 5'11" to 6'2", with a chest circumference of 43-44", and weight of 190-210 pounds. The sleeves on these jackets are made a bit long, but with the creasing of the leather at the elbows, the sleeves will ride up a little.
