This jacket is a very well used Werber A-2, which we made back in 2014. The leather is Shinki seal brown horsehide, a shipment that had a slightly lighter overall
tone than some of our more typical Shinki seal. With wear, the panels other than the back have gotten light from stress and flexation, while the back is a bit
darker a tone. Our photographs make the contrast look a bit more extreme than in person.
The jacket is in very solid condition for the use it's had. We replaced the cuffs only, and the rest of the jacket is quite solid. It has had two name tags, and
we'd be happy to apply a nametag on the jacket if a customer wants one, for free. We have the proper nametag leather and typeface press.
The zipper is a wonderful and solid original M-42 Talon, which has held up just fine. The thread is solid throughout as well. The lining shows some wear
discoloration along the collar stand, but is otherwise still quite clean.
The snaps and other hardware operate as they should and are just fine.
Overall, this is still a wonderfully solid jacket, with wear patina that takes years to develop. The athletic V-shape of the Werber torso and their
typically smaller neck hole give the jacket a dignified look. Shinki horsehide has a magic that years of wear only enhances. Also, this jacket was
worn by a passenger on a B-17, B-24, and B-29, which is far more than the maker of the jacket can boast.
The jacket would ideally fit someone in the range of 5'10" to 6', with a chest of 40" to 42", and a weight of about 170-190 pounds. The jacket is shown
with a wearer who is 6 feet tall, 175 pounds with a 41.5" chest, and is a little small or snug in the lower torso. The jacket was made for a fellow
who was quite slender but also tall. The size 44 sizetag relates more to the height than the chest width.
