We have a great Willis and Geiger M-444 available. With two orders almost ready to be completed, we made a test jacket to ensure
both are built right. We made this pattern in 2017, and only made one test model, so making one now before making two larger customer
orders was prudent. This jacket is in almost new condition, and has wonderful leather and parts.
The jacket fits snug, and for those who purchase our typical size 44 jackets, it should fit you, but might be a tick on the tight side.
That's not uncomfortable, but wearing a sweater underneath might make some arm motions require more effort. But it looks damn sharp,
and will get compliments as one wears it. This is made with our new sheepskin and goatskin, and a very special detail of a vintage
set of Anchor Brand (North & Judd) waist adjustment buckles from WWII.
Willis and Geiger had some interesting ideas in how they made their M-444. The collar tips are backed with goatskin, as a method of easing
the corner shaping of the front of the collar, and they used pale olive cuffs, rather than seal brown, and we have that same shade. As some
Navy jacket makers would do, the pocket flaps have the front leather with folded edges against the back leather which is flat, and cut
around the edges of the front after sewing.
These jackets are quite warm, and with the fur length of about 1/4" (10mm), the leather is much more flexible than jackets with deeper fur.
The shoulders puff out when new, but relax more as the jacket has hours of use. We did stamp the collar with USN in black, but it's hard
to photograph and get it to show as in person.
The jacket would ideally fit someone in the range of 5'9" to 6'1", with a chest of 40" to 42", and a weight of about 180-195 pounds.
