About This Jacket:

This jacket shows that the 7823C series of G-1 jacket began to have A-2-style waistbands rather than the rib-rack version that dates to WWII. Compare this with the size 46 7823C by Ralph Edwards, which does have the rib-rack waistband, but is a different contract number. The 7823Cs that have a double-ply plain waistband are rare, but the 7823D contracts and all others afterwards had them as a standard item. Note that the last sleeve gusset seams on these have only a simple stitch line, rather than the doubled stitching seen on the gusset seams with the body. The goatskin has beautiful texture throughout and is somewhat stiff as it's in essentially new condition. The mouton is reddish and also just like the nicer mouton used in the 1950s. The Conmar zipper is plain brass, where the 7823B series of jackets were made with blackened Conmars. I don't know the exact date of this contract, but it is possible that the date is 1966 from the contract number.
