Type A-2: United Sheeplined
United Sheeplined was one of many A-2 contractors, and the company was part of I. Spiewak & Sons family, along with Bronco MFG. Co.
Our jacket is a faithful reproduction, with all the details seen on United Sheeplined A-2s, from the beveled pocket corner design to the epaulets,
which are positioned over the body seam.
We've been able to take apart a United Sheeplined original, and measure several others. Our reproduction has all the details that one cannot see from the outside,
like having .5" wide black HBT tape sewn to the underside of the body seam of the shoulder. United Sheeplined pocket flaps are a little bit longer than
Bronco pocket flaps, which we incorporate in our design. The collars on originals have a strong point at the tips. Most originals
were sewn together with olive drab thread, and we use the same shade.
United Sheeplined lasted long after WWII. The company used five commercial brand names that can be seen in vintage clothing,
which were WeatherFlight, Skua, Robert Lewis, Tempest (1960-1982), and Daniel Boone (1938 to around 1976). Daniel Boone was
based in Long Branch, so we have to wonder if this line was produced in the old United Sheeplined factory in which A-2s were made.
